Dr. Richard Abelson, CEO of Statistics & Data Corporation (SDC), founded the company in November of 2005. Prior to SDC's inception, Richard served on the Board of Directors of Ora, Inc. (www.oraclinical.com) for over 10 years. Richard holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering with a focus on applied statistics, quality and reliability engineering from Arizona State University (ASU), a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering focused in Operations Research and Production Systems (ASU) and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Industrial Engineering (ASU), and is certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt. He is a member of DIA, ARVO and CDISC.
Dr. Dale Usner joined SDC in September 2011 and currently serves as the company's President. Prior to joining SDC, he worked at AVI BioPharma and ZymoGenetics as the head of statistics and data management, at Bausch & Lomb, Inc as the global head of statistics and data management, and at PPD, Inc. He maintains an array of therapeutic area expertise, including anti-viral/anti-infective, oncology, ophthalmic device, ophthalmic pharmaceuticals, and gastrointestinal. Dale also has a breadth of regulatory body meeting experience with the FDA, PMDA, and EMA, including involvement in advisory committee meetings. Dale holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Oregon State University, a MS in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University, and a BS in Mathematics from Dickinson College.
Faith Haines Kolb joined SDC in January 2017 as Vice President, Biometric Operations. Prior to joining SDC, Faith served as Vice President, Biometrics at Veristat and formerly held leadership positions at Parexel, Prometrika, and Averion International. With more than 20 years of experience in clinical trials, she brings to SDC a proven track record of leading companies through change, growth, and standardization. Her clinical trials experience spans both common and complex therapeutic areas including, but not limited to, oncology, neurology, dermatology, and genetic diseases. She maintains distinct technical expertise across various EDC, CDMS, CTMS, and statistical software platforms. Faith holds a BA in Mathematics and Education from Clark University in Worcester, MA and is active with various local, national, and international industry associations such as Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MassBio), Drug Information Association (DIA), Society for Clinical Data Management (SCDM), and the American Management Association (AMA).
Jim Townsend joined SDC in 2008 and has since held roles of increasing responsibility within the organization, now serving as Vice President of Business Development. During his time at SDC, Jim has led initiatives for company growth and help to diversify the company's pipeline of work into multiple therapeutic areas. Jim holds a Masters in Business Administration from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University (ASU), and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering at ASU.
Kirk Bateman joined SDC in January 2013 and currently serves as the Director of Biostatistics. Prior to joining SDC, he served as the Manager of Statistics at Bausch & Lomb, and previously as a Senior Biostatistician at PPD. He maintains an array of therapeutic area expertise including medical devices, ophthalmology, allergy, respiratory, cardiovascular, rheumatology, and oncology. Kirk holds a MS in Biostatistics from the University of Iowa and a BS in Statistics from Brigham Young University.
Teri Hicks joined SDC in January 2014 as the Director of Data Management, providing clinical data management services in support of clinical studies. She has over 20 years of experience in clinical and health information. Prior to her position at SDC, she worked in the medical device industry in clinical data management for W.L. Gore and Associates. She also worked as Manager of Clinical Data Management for Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. In addition, Teri has experience in the commercial side of pharmaceutical information with physician prescribing, payer reimbursement, and sales compensation information. She maintains an array of therapeutic area expertise including medical devices, cardiology, endocrinology, infectious disease, and nephrology.
